Poster

Galeria das Salgadeiras

Galeria das Salgadeiras presents the exhibition “Poster,” an unpublished body of work by Cláudio Garrudo.

Throughout his career, Cláudio Garrudo has explored other territories intersecting with his photographic practice, whether painting, literature, or other disciplines. In “Poster,” the photographer revisits his references in the fields of the arts and graphic production, presenting a series that extends beyond the formal boundaries of photography itself. A single matrix-image unfolds into multiple formats: offset printing plates with the photograph engraved; offset prints separating each of the cyan, magenta, yellow, and black colors; highlighting the artistic value of the poster format; and the photograph itself, as both the point of departure and arrival of this process.

The exhibition also includes an installation featuring a neon piece that, in a play with the viewer, another characteristic of the artist’s trajectory, spells out the word “Poster.”

In “Poster,” Cláudio Garrudo reinterprets the paradigms of Process Art, in which the process of constructing the artistic object asserts itself as the work of art per se, within a minimal exhibition discourse and an attitude of pronounced aesthetic formalism. After all, “it’s all about the process,” as some artists of the 1960s and 1970s famously maintained.
