The 5th edition of FAZUNCHAR presents the artist Martinho Costa as part of its artist residency program from August 12 to 20, in Figueiró dos Vinhos. Martinho Costa presents the project “The painter’s point of view”, built around the historical connection of the painter Malhoa with the village.

His work is spread over multiple supports ranging from studio painting on canvas, to the manufacture of single-edition painting books, as well as pictorial interventions outdoors.

These various media on which he has been multiplying his artistic practice, have in common the use of previous images that serve as models for his painting. It is a process of transformation of motifs that surround us, from a point of view that takes into account an investigation of the long history of art, trying to update the major themes and genres that configure the dense tradition of painting.
