Rui Soares Costa will be hosting young artists in his studio (Olho de Boi, Almada) under the scope of the project useless things lab by Inestética. It consists of a research, experimentation, and creation public art lab, with emerging artists who develop their work in visual arts and performance art. The lab will take place between February and June 2023, with 8 on-site sessions which will also take place in Palácio do Sobralinho (Vila Franca de Xira), and in the public spaces of the facilities (Vila Franca de Xira).
During the laboratory 5 site-specific installations will be conceived, to be presented in the public space of the Vila Franca de Xira’s municipality. The project is curated by Alexandre Lyra Leite, artistic director of Inestética, and Rui Soares Costa (guest curator), an artist with a transdisciplinary background between cognitive sciences and visual arts, who will be the author of one of the installations.
The set of 5 site-specific installations will be shown on June 17, 2023 and it will include a performance.
