Ater

Galeria das Salgadeiras

A group exhibition that brings into dialogue works by Augusto Brázio, Cláudio Garrudo, Daniela Krtsch, João Dias, Jordi Burch, Maria Capelo, Rui Horta Pereira, and Rui Soares Costa. Time may invite the “silly season” and the rest of the body; art, however, remains steadfast in its relevance and in its invitation to reflection.

“ ‘Ater,’ matte black in Latin, thus stems from a premise of rebellion—a declaration of intent, a drawing inward, and, consequently, the sharp and unequivocal assertion of the artist as ethnographer, avant-garde in thought, contemporary in form and content, the ‘return of the real’ of Hal Foster.”
