Salgadeiras Arte Contemporânea presents, for Art Brussels 2025, the curatorial project “Le Temps, ce grand sculpteur”, featuring works by Augusto Brázio, Inês d’Orey, Rui Horta Pereira, and Rui Soares Costa, inspired by the essay of the same name by Marguerite Yourcenar, in which she reflects on the concept of Time, an essential theme in the artistic practice of these four artists.

Drawing on the example of Greek statues, Yourcenar explores in this essay the idea of erosion caused by time, examining the impact and transformations that nature and humanity, over the centuries, have inflicted upon these works of art, and how, to a certain extent, there exists an underlying beauty in the passage of time, a kind of involuntary beauty.

Artists Carlos Alexandre Rodrigues, Cláudio Garrudo, Eva Díez, Fátima Frade Reis, and Rui Soares Costa also participated with their works in The Kick Cancer, an initiative parallel to Art Brussels, whose proceeds support the foundation of the same name, which assists children with oncological diseases.
