Salgadeiras Arte Contemporânea participates in ARTESANTANDER 2026 with the curatorial proposal “Al primer toque, un eco” (At first touch, an echo), placing in dialogue recent works by Eva Díez and Inês d’Orey around layers, whether of sediments or movements. In both Eva Díez and Inês d’Orey, the photographic result finds its relationship with time in the earth: while in Inês d’Orey the human passage follows through the research of architectural heritage, Eva Díez is guided by attention towards the geological. “Al primer toque, un eco” presents the series “Resonancias” and “Sem título” (Untitled) by Eva Díez, which, while landscapes, do not deal with Nature. Rather, they are records of how “what happens outside resonates inside,” in her own words. Based on recent research on the human brain, Eva Díez assumes in these most recent photographs a more graphic and abstract matrix, maintaining the poetics that has characterized her trajectory. Inês d’Orey’s series “Beograd Concrete” and “Ítala” are presented, forming part of her ongoing research on Brutalist architecture. Resulting from artistic residencies in Belgrade and Buenos Aires, these photographs bring us this “phantasmagorical dimension of times and places,” as Bernardo Pinto de Almeida points out regarding Inês d’Orey, whether they are common spaces within a building or the Chacarita cemetery in Buenos Aires. At the first touch that evokes Eva Díez, this latent echo of Inês d’Orey emerges.
