Porto, Portugal, 1974. Lives and works in Porto.

In her work, Rita Magalhães uses optical mediation processes, leaving us on the border between painting and photography. Her selective gaze cuts and filters nature, making it less immediate and more paused. This attention leads to a feeling of the sublime, whether in landscapes, portraits, or still lifes.

She has exhibited regularly since 1999 and is present in public collections, among which the following stand out: EDP Foundation Collection, Lisbon; Serralves Museum, Porto; Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon; CGAC – Galician Center for Contemporary Art, Santiago de Compostela; BESArte Collection, Banco Espírito Santo; Fundació Foto Colectania, Barcelona; Fundación Pedro Barrié de La Maza, Vigo.

She is represented by Salgadeiras Arte Contemporânea (Lisbon) and Galeria Pedro Oliveira (Porto).
